Love this man’s mojo, and his penchant for rocky folk music. I personally think “Lucky Star” is still his best album and “Momo” and “Aliens” two of his best tracks.

* bob ellis:
I want to be this man – playwright, author, speechwriter to Kim Beazley and Bob Carr, plus the inspiration for the movie “The Nostradamus kid”, which he ended up directing.

* cold chisel:
This band rock, hardcore, as only Australians with a Scottish singer can. Love “Forever Now” and “Bow River”

* jeff buckley:
The man has the voice of a castrated angel.

* jonathan kellerman:
Nothing greatly academic, but real page-turners. I consider them the adult version of the ‘Hardy Boys’ books.

* mungo maccallum:
A great Australian political writer. Writes more on the character and schemes than Ellis’ personal perspective. Has a beard and lives at Byron. Nice.

* politics:
Love it.

* reading:
Love it, escaping into the minds of others is so much fun.

* tim winton:
This man makes me feel so much and so deeply. Like no other writer, he affects me and makes me feel every emotion, and makes me feel good about it. Even the bad ones.

* writing:
Love it. Cathartic and creative.
